Hartmann Park & Pavilion
(Formerly known as Oakwood Park), Hartmann Park covers 9.92 acres on
Oakwood Drive, just south of Route 45. Hartmann Pavilion, which serves
as a home base for our summer day camp program, birthday parties and some
community meetings, is located here.
Amenities:
Originally named Oakwood Park, this property was acquired in thirds:
one-third purchased in 1976, one-third donated to the District in 1976 and
the remaining third was deeded to the District by Village Hall in 1986. In
1996, construction began on an enclosed pavilion to house winter programs
and summer camps. Upon the pavilion's completion in 1997, it was dedicated
and named for Carl P. Hartmann, retired Park District Director. At the same
time, the park was also re-named Hartmann Park.
The
fall of 2000 brought about a total park renovation, which included most of
the amenities listed above, as well as landscape improvements.
The
headquarters for the Special Recreation Association of Central Lake County (SRACLC)
is also located on this parcel, at 290 Oakwood Drive.
