VHPD & VHCYAA Announcement

January 30, 2015

The Vernon Hills Park District would like to thank those people who attended the January 28 Town Hall Meeting between the Park District and the VHCYAA. It was announced that
effective February 1, 2015, the VHCYAA will split its operations into two newly formed entities: The Vernon Hills Community Baseball & Softball (VHCBS) and The Vernon Hills Sports Club and will be run by Bill Polisson and Jeff Wilgus respectively. We appreciate the dialogue between the community member of the Park District board, the village and Bill and Jeff. We are excited about this change and the opportunity this will provide parents in the community to get involved in the future direction of these programs. We would like to encourage parents that are interested in volunteering to help run these organizations to please reach out directly to Mr. Polisson (w.polisson@comcast.net) and Mr. Wilgus (jwilgus@mac.com). For those of you that were unable to attend we have included the full release at the end of this email. We would also like to remind folks that on-line registration for the Community Baseball & Softball programs are open and details can be found at www.vhcyaa.org. Details on Lacrosse on-line registration will be coming soon.

Vernon Hills Cougars Youth Athletic Association (VHCYAA) Announcement

The Vernon Hills Cougars Youth Athletic Association (VHCYAA) and the Vernon Hills Park District would like to announce that effective February 1st, 2015 the VHCYAA will split its operations into two newly formed entities: The Vernon Hills Community Baseball & Softball (VHCBS) and The Vernon Hills Sports Club.

The Vernon Hills Community Baseball & Softball organization will run the following programs that were previously operated by the VHCYAA: community baseball, community softball, and travel baseball. These programs offer the residents of the Vernon Hills community who have children in the age ranges of 4 – 16 the opportunity to participate in these programs in the spring and summer months. Bill Polisson will serve as the President of the Vernon Hills Community Baseball & Softball organization with Brian Mahler serving as the Vice President.
The Vernon Hills Sports Clubs will run the following programs that were previously operated by the VHCYAA: lacrosse, travel basketball, tackle football, flag football, and cheer. These programs offer the residents of the Vernon Hills community to participate in these sports primarily in the fall and winter months, with the exception of the lacrosse program which runs in both the spring and fall. Jeff Wilgus will serve as the President of the Vernon Hills Sports Club.

The splitting of the current VHCYAA into these two newly formed entities will allow Mr. Polisson and Mr. Wilgus to establish operations that are solely focused on the respective sports of each program with the goal of continuing to improve and deliver programming that meet the needs of the Vernon Hills residents. Each organization will be forming their own Board of Directors with the structure and operating principles outlined in the coming months. Vernon Hills residents interested in volunteering their time to fulfill one of the board positions should contact Mr. Polisson (w.polisson@comcast.net) or Jeff Wilgus (jwilgus@mac.com). We would like to thank the Vernon Hills Park District for the opportunity to continue the long partnership we have had over the last several years and we look forward to a continued strengthening of the partnership in the coming years.
