Sullivan Woods Oak Savannah Restoration Project

August 3, 2016

In July, the Park’s Department began the first stage of restoring a portion of a 12 acre Oak Savannah in the middle of Sullivan Woods. Seven acres of the twelve acres were chosen as the starting point.  Invasive species, (Buckthorn, Honeysuckle, Wild Grape Vine, Oriental Bittersweet and Poison Ivy), were cleared from the under story and path’s edge. The removal of all non-Oak trees was started and will continue into the winter. The project’s completion is expected to be in 2018 / 2019. Click here for more information.
