Erika Bitto, Vernon Hills mom of two, shared her Vernon Hills Park District summer camp experience this summer, and why she is choosing the PALS Safe Center for Remote Learning for her children.

“As a small business owner and mother of two young sons, I was desperate to find summer care for my sons after Illinois entered Phase 3 allowing me to reopen my business. I was scared, nervous, and full of guilt. Boy, were those emotions a waste of energy!

We pulled up to the front of the valet line on the first day of camp immediately greeted by masked up, energetic, diligent, and cheerful counselors eager to meet my first grader and get the fun rolling. My son hopped out and never looked back.

It was the moment I always look for as a parent, the moment when I know my son is safe. So, the instant I got the word that the same park district was partnering with Hawthorn School District 73 to offer a safe center for remote learning, you betcha I was the first to sign up my son. This time, it was my turn to never look back.

I trust without reservation the staff at the Vernon Hills Park District. I am forever indebted to them and grateful for their sacrifice, creativity, dedication, and commitment to the overall safety and well-being of my sons. And the best part? My sons are happy, fulfilled, and utterly exhausted.”
