Citizen Help Needed in Identifying Suspects Responsible for Vandalism
June 5, 2023
To the Citizens of Vernon Hills and Vernon Hills Park District Patrons,
Recently our parks have been experiencing an increase in incidents of criminal damage to property, criminal defacement of property, and vandalism. In recent weeks we have had multiple park restrooms repeatedly damaged, playground equipment vandalized, graffiti at our skate park and property defaced with hate symbols and anti- Semitic graffiti.
This behavior is not only sad and disturbing, but is costing us time, labor, materials, equipment repair/replacement, clean-up, reporting, etc. It is also pulling valuable staff time away from improvements/projects we have planned and need/want to do. When we say “us,” in reality, we are referring to “you,” the taxpayer, that is footing the bill for this vandalism.
The Vernon Hills Park District is asking for your help in identifying the suspects responsible for these crimes. Please report any leads or suspect names that you may have to Detective Lemmer of the Vernon Hills Police Department at 847.247.8156 . Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jeff Fougerousse
Executive Director
Vernon Hills Park District
and
Patrick L. Kreis
