Vernon Hills Park District Chosen to Participate in ARPA Funded Tree Initiative with Lake County
September 11, 2024
Vernon Hills Park District proudly announces we’ve been chosen by Lake County to be a recipient of their Tree Planting Program. This innovative, American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funded program supports the County’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community well-being, while creating a significant step towards expanding tree canopy coverage, diversifying the native urban forest, and addressing stormwater runoff countywide. The 15 native trees we’ve received through this grant include White Oak, River Birch, Hornbeam, Kentucky Coffee, Hackberry and Linden and will be planted in Lake Charles Park this fall.
We are proud to partner with Lake County in this program. Lake County staff will work with our organization through the entire process. The County will partner with us to oversee site preparation and the tree plantings to ensure consistent progress.
