Register for Day Camps

Students in grades K-8 will have their best summer with the Vernon Hills Park District!  Camps are supervised by experienced Directors and engaged counselors ensuring all children are safe in their care. Campers enjoy exploring the outdoors, sports, indoor and outdoor games, field trips, themed activities, team building activities, onsite entertainment, and swimming at Turtle Creek Waterpark. These action-packed camps keep the kids active and engaged.

  • Camp grades are based on the camper’s grade entering Fall 2025.
  • Day camps are offered in 2-week sessions, Monday-Friday.
  • The camp day is from 8 AM-3 PM.
  • Camp doesn’t have to end at 3 PM!  Families have the option to extend the summer day camp till 6 PM with the Extended Camp option. The Park District will transport or walk campers from their camp sites to Extended Camp at the Sullivan Community Center.
  • Camp lunch option is offered on the days campers swim at Turtle Creek Waterpark. Bobo’s Poolside concession will offer four lunch options for the campers to choose from: hot dog, peanut butter sandwich, chicken nuggets or hamburger served with a drink and a side (fries, chips, or fruit cup).

Camp Firefly – Kindergarten

Designed specifically for curious and energetic kindergarteners, Camp Firefly provides a safe and stimulating environment where children can explore, play, and make cherished memories. From arts and crafts, games, to nature exploration, field trips, and visits to Turtle Creek Waterpark, camp promises endless fun! Meet new friends, build confidence, and embark on a journey filled with laughter and discovery.

Adventure Day Camp – Grades 1-2

Enjoy a summer full of adventure!  Campers spend their days exploring Century Park and its natural areas, ballfields, playground as well as the bocce, baggo, basketball and volleyball courts.  Campers participate in both indoor and outdoor activities designed to keep them active and engaged.  From sports and games to arts & crafts, swimming, field trips and onsite entertainment, a summer of adventure awaits!

Location: Century Park Pavilion. On swim days, Adventure Day Camp drop-off/pick-up will be at the Sullivan Community Center.  See camp calendar for details.

Colorful Creations Camp – Grades 1-3

Young artists explore a variety of art mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media.  Campers learn about a famous artist, create unique works of art and explore their creative side.  Expect to get messy!  In addition to art, camp activities include outdoor games, swimming and a weekly field trip or special event.

Pathfinders Camp  – Grades 3-4

Explore Peterson Park’s open field, sand volleyball court, tennis court, basketball court, softball field and playground, and engage in activities including sports, games, water play, arts and crafts and more! Campers will enjoy a field trip once a week. Twice a week, campers walk to Turtle Creek Waterpark to swim.

The Great Outdoors Camp – Grades 5-6

The Great Outdoors Camp provides an enjoyable summer full of excitement! Each day is packed with a variety of games, team building activities, scavenger hunts, water play, and other fun activities. Twice a week campers will be walking to Turtle Creek Waterpark to enjoy swimming. Campers embark on a field trip once per week.

Kid Zone Camp  –  Grades K-8

Kid Zone is a 4-week camp offered in two 2-week sessions that compliments the Hawthorn Enrichment Institute. Campers enjoy games, activities, sports and crafts. Twice a week campers walk to Turtle Creek Waterpark to swim. Kid Zone Extended Camp is available for Kid Zone Camp. Kid Zone Extended Campers will be transported and/or walked to join Extended Camp at the Sullivan Community Center.
