Recreation Advisory Committee

The Recreation Advisory Committee (RAC) is composed of seven volunteer residents appointed by the Park Board President.  Members are chosen from various neighborhoods located in Vernon Hills.  The District Superintendent of Recreation attends all RAC quarterly meetings and serves as the Secretary providing agendas and producing minutes.

The purpose of the Recreation Advisory Committee is to provide resident input regarding recreation programs offered in the community.  The seven member committee informs the Park District of residents’ concerns and recreational needs within their respective neighborhoods, and advises staff of opportunities to serve those constituents.  The relationship of the RAC to the Park Board and staff is one of assistance and advice for the betterment of District services and facilities.  The mutual support of the RAC, District staff, and Board results in the collective ability to provide outstanding Park District recreational opportunities for all residents.

The RAC meets quarterly at 5:30 pm, prior to regularly scheduled Park Board meetings at the Sullivan Community Center.  Agendas are posted on the website a minimum of 48 hours prior to the meetings.
