Carol Sente, President

Carol's Bio

Carol Sente has been a Vernon Hills resident since 1997, and returned to the Park Board via appointment in 2020. She was re-elected to the Park Board in 2021. She first served on the Park Board in 2004-2009, until she became the Illinois State Representative for District 59 serving our community in this capacity for almost ten years.

Carol owns a small management consulting practice, serves on the Small Business Advocacy Council Board and is an active member of Willow South Lake church. She chose to get involved with the Park Board because she has a strong understanding of park agencies through her former architectural firm as well as due to her passion for open space, lifelong fitness, the benefits of leisure, and environmental stewardship.

Carol resides in Georgetown Square. She enjoys hiking, fitness, traveling the world, reading, and glamping.

DavidDoerhoefer
David Doerhoefer, Vice-President

David's Bio

David Doerhoefer, a Vernon Hills resident since 1989, was elected to the Park Board in 2005. As an involved community member, David has served on various Vernon Hills High School Parent committees, was a room parent for six years at Hawthorn Elementary School, athletic coach for the Park District’s basketball, baseball and softball programs, the GLSA soccer program, currently coaches Vernon Hills High School softball and Stingers travel fast pitch program and is employed with Grainger.

David’s passion for recreation and athletics led him to the position on the Park Board. He wanted to give back to the community by providing his leadership and volunteering his time toward the stewardship of the environment in the Vernon Hills community. In 2013, David was awarded the Vernon Hills “Person of the Year” award. In 2010, David was recognized by the Illinois Association of Park Districts with the “Rising Star Award”, an award given to Park Board members with less than 10 years’ experience who exemplify outstanding effort in the Parks and Recreation field.

David resides in Deerpath with his wife, Joyce. They have two adult children: Sara and Eric. In David’s spare time, he enjoys golfing, coaching kids, and spending time outdoors with family and friends.

Bruce Robbins, Commissioner

Bruce's Bio

Bruce Robbins, a Vernon Hills resident since 2007, was appointed to the Park Board in 2009. As an involved community member, Bruce is a retired Partner in the CPA firm of Kutchins, Robbins & Diamond Ltd., President  Treasurer of his Condominium Board, and has been a practicing CPA for over 50 years.

Bruce chose to become involved with the Park Board because he wanted to serve his community.

Bruce resides in Vernon Hills with his wife of 40 years, Sandra. Bruce has three adult children; Joel, Lauren, and Jordan and four grandchildren. In Bruce’s spare time, he enjoys tennis, running and cheering on the White Sox.

Abra Jacobs, Commissioner

Abra's Bio

Abra Jacobs, a Vernon Hills resident since 2013, is a graduate of the University of Dayton, and is an Assistant Vice President at ESIS, Inc., a Chubb Company.

Interest in active lifestyles, fitness, community involvement, and environmental stewardship led to my interest in joining the park district board.

Abra and her two sons, Colin and Ryan, live in Deerpath and participate in many park district and community sports programs.

Nancy Beaumont, Commissioner

Nancy's Bio

Nancy Beaumont has been a Vernon Hills resident since 2001 and is a graduate of Iowa State University.  She worked as a Nuclear Engineer at Exelon before choosing to stay home to raise her children.  Over the past 25 years, Nancy actively served the Vernon Hills community through various volunteer roles within the Hawthorn School District 73 and beyond.  She also served as Chair of D128 Foundation for Learning Board, leading initiatives that supported educational excellence at our high schools.

A long time user and advocate of the Vernon Hills Park District, Nancy values the District’s diverse offerings and their role in bringing community together.  Her commitment to serve is based on a desire to continue growing our community and connections.

Nancy lives  in Centennial Crossing with her husband, Eric, and their two adult sons, Nicolas and Nathan. She is an avid runner who also enjoys hiking, traveling, and creating art.
