Laschen Park is near the former site of the Tally Ho County Club, which also served as the Vernon Hills Village Hall from 1980 to 2002. The Vernon Hills Park District managed the original Village Hall building from 2002-2016 after the new Village hall was built on the corner of Evergreen Drive and Route 45. The Park District’s Administration team was located on the 2nd floor and the whole building served as a second Park District Community Center. The former Park District building was named after Mr. Larry Laschen, former Vernon Hills Police Chief, Director of Public Safety, and Village Manager. In 2021, the Village of Vernon Hills gave the Park District greenspace and courts to operate as part of the general operations of the Park District.
