Grosse Pointe Park

Grosse Pointe Park is a 37.42 acre park located in the heart of Grosse Pointe Village.

In November 1991, ten acres were deeded to the Park District by Centex Homes and became known as Grosse Pointe Park. In December 1993, six additional acres were deeded to the Park District. The west and final section of the park was donated by Centex homes to the District in 2000.

In 1998, the District negotiated a 20-year agreement with Commonwealth Edison to lease the one-mile right-of-way at the park’s west end. During the park’s second phase of development, a new parking lot and a walking/bike path was added on the ComEd right-of-way. The Com Ed agreement was renewed in 2017.

In 2015, a new playground was added near the ball fields.
In 2023, the tot playground was replaced at the corner of Grosse Pointe Blvd. and Southfield Drive.

Fishing at Grosse Pointe Park

Hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to dusk. No boats permitted.

West pond – one acre, deepest point is 7′, and is located southwest of the ball fields. Access by vehicle to Grosse Pointe Park’s parking lots is via Grosse Pointe Boulevard (take either Route 83 or Route 45 to Grosse Pointe Boulevard. There are multiple access points by bike or by foot from the south, west and north of the park.

East pond – .4 acres, deepest point is 11′, and is located southeast of the ball fields. Access by vehicle to Grosse Pointe Park’s parking lots is via Grosse Pointe Boulevard (take either Route 83 or Route 45 to Grosse Pointe Boulevard. There are multiple access points by bike or by foot from the south, west and north of the park.
