A Message from the Lake County, IL Sheriff’s Office:

We are approaching coyote mating season, which means we will see an uptick in the aggressiveness of coyotes. We tend to see them more aggressive during mating season and when their pups are born. Plenty of coyotes call Lake County home, so please be sure you keep a close eye on your pets. Some tips include:

-Don’t let your pets outside by themselves and keep them on a leash when walking
-Don’t feed coyotes or wildlife
-If you encounter a coyote, generally loud noises will scare them away
