Youth Camps K-8

Students in grades K-8 will have their best summer with the Vernon Hills Park District!  Camps are supervised by experienced Directors and engaged counselors ensuring all children are safe in their care. Campers enjoy exploring the outdoors, sports, indoor and outdoor games, field trips, themed activities, team building activities, onsite entertainment, and swimming at the Family Aquatic Center twice a week (Session 5 visits the Family Aquatic Center once per week). These action-packed camps keep the kids active and engaged.

  • Camp grades are based on the camper’s grade entering Fall 2023.
  • The day camps are offered weekly, June 5 through August 4. Families choose weeks that fit their schedule best.
  • Camp lunch option is offered on the two days per week campers swim at the Family Aquatic Center. Bobo’s Poolside concession will offer four lunch options for the campers to choose from.
  • Extended Care 3-6 pm – Camp doesn’t have to end at 3 pm!  Families have the option to extend summer day camp till 6 pm. The Park District will transport or walk campers from their camp sites to Extended Care at the Sullivan Community Center.

For kids who want to enjoy camp until the school year begins, the Park District offers Late Summer Camps.

Adventure Day Camp – Entering Grades K-3

Enjoy a summer full of adventure! Campers at Adventure Day Camp spend their days exploring Century Park and its natural areas, ballfields, playgrounds as well as the bocce, baggo, basketball and volleyball courts. Campers participate in both indoor and outdoor activities designed to keep them active and engaged. From sports and games to arts & crafts, field trips and onsite entertainment, a summer of adventure awaits! Adventure Day Camp visits the Family Aquatic Center twice per week (weather permitting) with an optional lunch provided by Bobo’s Poolside . Drop-off/pick-up is at the Sullivan Community Center on swim days.

Trailblazers  Camp  – Entering Grades K-3

Experience the ultimate summer of fun!  Campers spend their days exploring Deerpath Park and its ballfields, playgrounds, basketball and volleyball courts.  This camp offers activities including sports, games, water play, field trips, onsite entertainment, arts and crafts and more!  Drop-off/pick-up is at the Sullivan Community Center on swim days.

Art Sparks Camp – Entering Grades 1-3

Let your creativity shine! Young artists explore a variety of art mediums including paint, pastels, plaster, and recyclables. Each week, campers learn about a famous artist, create unique works of art and explore their creative side. Expect to get messy! In addition to art, camp activities include outdoor games and a weekly field trip or special event. Art Sparks Camp visits the Family Aquatic Center twice per week (weather permitting) with an optional lunch provided by Bobo’s Poolside .

The Great Outdoors Camp – Entering Grades 4-6

The Great Outdoors Camp provides an enjoyable summer full of excitement! Each day is packed with a variety of games, team building activities, scavenger hunts, water play, and other exciting activities. Twice a week campers will be walking to our Family Aquatic Center to enjoy swimming. Campers embark on a field trip once per week.

Teen Helping Hands Camp – Entering Grades 7-8

Join us at our new Teens Helping Hands Camp! Campers have a chance to ‘hang out’ together at camp, while also participating and helping others in the community. Campers visit the Family Aquatic Center twice per week (weather permitting) with an optional lunch provided by Bobo’s Poolside. They also enjoy up to two field trips or volunteer projects per week, and spend one day at camp base.

Kid Zone 1/2 Day Camp  – Entering Grades K-7

Kid Zone is a 4 week camp offered in two 2-week sessions that compliments the Hawthorn Enrichment Institute. Campers will enjoy games, activities, sports and crafts. Twice a week campers will be walking to our Family Aquatic Center to enjoy swimming.
