This afternoon, Governor Pritzker issued a new Executive Order 2020-10 requiring all Illinoisans to stay at home beginning Saturday, March 21, at 5 pm through April 7, 2020.
Note the order specifically states that individuals may leave their residence to engage in outdoor activity such as walking, hiking, running, or biking and may go to public parks and open outdoor recreation areas if they comply with the Social Distancing Requirements defined in the order, but playgrounds must be closed. (Section 5).
Effective Saturday, March 21 at 5 pm, all District playgrounds are closed until further notice. Signage will be placed at each playground. Further, all park amenities are closed until further notice. This includes athletic fields, tennis courts, pickle ball courts, volleyball courts, basketball courts, the futsol court, and usage of the outdoor exercise equipment.
The walking and biking paths in our parks are open! Please practice social distancing while enjoying the paths.
