The Sports Shed is a community investment organization with a 501(c)(3). They work with schools and sports programs in under resourced communities throughout Chicago and a suburban areas that struggle to offer athletic programs due to lack of funding. The Sports Shed serves public, charter, and private schools in addition to organizations like after school programs and park districts. Their Vision is for all kids in under resourced communities in the Chicagoland area to have alternatives to gangs and violence through organized sports. Their Mission is to provide quality sports gear and resources to schools and organizations who lack the funding to provide safe and successful sports programs. Their Values are based on the belief that there are life-changing benefits for youth who engage in sports and physical fitness.

Effective 12/31/21, the Sports Shed will no longer be collecting used sports equipment at the Sullivan Community Center.  Please donate items to Play It Again Sports, with whom The Sports Shed has a working relationship.  The closest Play It Again Sports location is in Northbrook,  575 S. Waukegan Road.  Tell them your donation is to The Sports Shed’s credit account.
